QT Newcastle’s High Tea comes elegantly presented on tiered trays, trolleys and fine china. Experience this special collaboration between a luxury hotel and Masterchef’s esteemed dessert icon, Reece Hignell.

The iconic Australian hotel, QT, went regional in 2022 with the opening of its Newcastle location. The hotel is within a historic David Jones store, originally built over a century ago. The revamp is the perfect blend of vintage and modern, with a chic and art-deco interior. It is the ideal spot for a luxury getaway, conveniently located just two hours from Sydney CBD. The hotel prioritises supporting local and using high-quality ingredients when it comes to dining. For those looking for a little more, you can pair your weekend stay with their latest culinary creation.

Experience pleasure like never before with QTea High Tea x Cakeboi, a genius collaboration between QT Newcastle and Cakeboi by Reece Hignell. The QT presents you with a leisurely and modernised afternoon tea that you’ll remember long after you’ve eaten the last crumb of the delectable Battenburg cake. This extraordinary event will commence on the 13th of April and Saturdays thereafter from 12pm to 3pm at the hotel’s stunning restaurant, Jana. The dining room is studded with windows, filling it with Newcastle’s sunshine amidst an open kitchen, where their emphasis on high-quality and local ingredients is evident.

For just $75pp you will enjoy an exquisite blend of sweet and savoury bites and beverage delights crafted by hatted Executive Chef, Shayne Mansfield and Dessert King, Reece Hignell. The pair will welcome you with a tiered tray bustling with savoury snacks featuring melt-in-your-mouth duck leg croquettes and mini Merguez sausage pies.

We were pleasantly surprised with the duo’s take on ‘tea’, with the innovative “Ketel Iced Tea Cocktail” featuring the local Tea Collective’s berry tea and Ketel One vodka, bursting with fruity flavour. Don’t worry, tea totalers, there’s an alcohol-free version, or you can sip on the delicious QT signature breakfast blend, also made by Newcastle’s very own Tea Collective.

The pleasure doesn’t end there. When you’ve finished with their savoury selection, prepare for a trolley laden with decadent desserts including Urban hum honey cake and the heavenly Victoria sponge. They are also offering a QTea vegan menu.
