Flickerfest is back and ready to illuminate Bondi Beach for its 34th year.
From January 17th to 26th, the iconic Flickerfest International Short Film Festival transforms Bondi Pavilion into an open-air cinema, showcasing the crème de la crème of short filmmaking from around the globe.
As Australia’s only Academy® and BAFTA-qualifying short film festival, Flickerfest is a beacon for emerging talent and creative storytelling. This year’s lineup features over 200 captivating films, whittled down from 3,400 entries. Expect 37 world premieres, 46 Australian premieres, and a rich mixture of genres that will move, inspire, and entertain.
The 2025 Australian Program highlights the depth of homegrown talent, with standouts like Vlog, a heartfelt family drama directed by Emmy-nominated actress Yvonne Strahovski (The Handmaid’s Tale). This short film dives into the complexities of motherhood, social media, and identity, showcasing Strahovski’s talents both in front of and behind the camera.
Comedy takes center stage with Candy Bar, a darkly funny short from celebrated filmmaker Nash Edgerton (Mr Inbetween). Starring Damon Herriman, this six-minute gem proves big laughs come in small packages.
For those who love the quirky and unexpected, Belinda Bromilow’s debut Glove offers a surreal, hilarious tale of love, knitting, and lamb-stealing escapades. Bromilow (The Great) brings her signature wit to the screen in a story that’s as endearing as it is bizarre.

Beyond the competition, curated programs like Rainbow Shorts, Short Laughs, and FlickerKids promise something for everyone. After Bondi, Flickerfest will hit the road, touring 40+ locations nationwide from February through October.
