Door Knock Bar has taken over the old Norsk Dor site shifting the focus to cocktails.

Hidden CBD bar and restaurant Norsk Dor has been taken over by a new management and has reopened this month as Door Knock Bar. The Nordic viking inspired restaurant has been replaced with more of a cocktail and wine focus thanks to hospitality veteran Natalie Ng (ex- Mojo Record Bar). Along with Bar Manager Jonathan Carr (ex-Kitty Hawk) they are slinging cocktails, local and international wines and a selection of different sherries.
The creative cocktail list includes interesting combinations such as the Hey Macadamia ($21) a tiki cup filled with Plantation rum, Fino, mango, lime, macadamia orgeat and a macadamia crumb served in a lime cup. For something a little lighter try the Le Puritan ($19) made with Poor Tom Fool’s Gin, pineapple skin fino, yellow chartreuse and orange bitters. Skip dessert and go straight for the Caskhopper ($18) Coconut milk washed Johnnie Walker Coffee Blender’s batch, mint, cacao essence served with a square of mint flavoured Lindt to garnish.
Food wise expect substaintial bar snacks including fried chicken wings, mac and cheese croquettes, freshly shucked oysters  Japanese miso eggplant and BBQ pork belly burnt ends.
Half the fun of Door Knock Bar, like it’s predecessor, is actually finding the venue. Situated on Pitt Street (near the corner of Hunter) there is no signage on the outside of the venue. Just look for a warmly lit staircase leading to a dark corridor. There’s a welcome mat with Lionel Ritchie’s classic “Hello? Is it me you’re looking for” at the top of the stairs and a sign above your head. Follow the corridor and listen for the eclectic mix of dance floor hits bellowing from inside the bar.
Your eyes may take a while to adjust to the dark space (not quite as dark as Uncle Ming’s make-out lighting). A canopy of fairly lights and greenery hangs from the roof. And you have your pick from a collection of small tables,  high communal seating or bar stools with cosy little nooks in every corner. We’re sure this hidden bunker bar will be hot with Tinder dates in no time.
