Expect honest Italian food and charming hospitality at this new dining spot.
While a trip to the Italian coastline might be a long way off, we’ve found the next best thing. Set to swing open its door in late November, The Star Sydney is welcoming a new casual Italian eatery to its thriving foodie precinct this spring.
Get ready for Cucina Porto, the new casual Italian eatery set to open at The Star Sydney on November 25th. As you’d expect, charming hospitality and simple, honest Italian food are what this dining room does best. Set opposite the Sydney Lyric Theatre, the venue will be an Italian home away from home with fuss-free Cucina and good times aplenty.
It’s the first new opening for The Star Sydney, with several new dining spots set to open their doors in the coming year. The precinct is set to expand its diverse food offering and breathe new life into Pyrmont to solidify the suburb’s place as one of Sydney’s most vibrant dining and entertainment destinations.
So, what can you expect at Cucina Porto? At the helm of the kitchen is Executive Chef Martino Pulito (ex Morrison Bar & Oyster Room), drawing on family recipes from his hometown of Puglia. The result? Expect a simple, pared-back menu that heroes exceptional local produce, complete with classic snacks, pizzas, generous bowls of pasta (all under $30) and so much more.
Behind the bar, award-winning bar manager Behzad Nvaziri has created a drinks list of fresh Italian classics, complete with a special Negroni progression menu. House wines, curated by sommelier Addy Lam, will showcase a selection of Italian and Australian produced Italian wines.
The venue itself offers a modern dining room with a semi-open kitchen with framed artscapes of Italy adorning the walls. Plus, the shelves of Cucina Porto will be lined with fresh tomato, olive oils, and lemons, all central ingredients to the eatery’s menu.
