Camelia Grove Hotel is the perfect spot for your next staycation.

Tucked away in the heart of Alexandria is the most unassuming pub. Situated on the corner of a leafy street you could easily walk past it unaware of its newly renovated boutique accommodation and Italian trattoria waiting to be discovered. Camelia Grove Hotel is the perfect little staycation spot for anyone wanting an urban escape. This historic pub, established in 1875, has been transformed into a stylish Italian-inspired trattoria and a neighbourhood favourite. It officially reopened early in 2023 as one of PUBLIC Hospitality Group’s latest acquisitions.

One of the standout features of Camelia Grove Hotel is its Executive Chef, Giuseppe Fuzio. Having spent eight years working with Alessandro Pavoni at Ormeggio he’s brought with him a wealth of experience and knowledge. As well as a love for southern Italian-style seafood and the wood fire oven. There are five different kinds of pasta on the menu, all made fresh daily, as is the pizza dough. Popular dishes like prosciutto and buffalo mozzarella, kingfish crudo and burrata are all available. Some of the heartier dishes include a bistecca scotch fillet, mussels and parmigiana eggplant. The drinks menu is small but all you need with wine from the Adelaide Hills to Tuscany and classic cocktails with a twist.

Camelia Grove Hotel is much more than just a great Italian bistro. The hotel also features boutique accommodation located just upstairs. Camelia House consists of a studio apartment and two generous 3-bedroom apartments, containing perfectly preserved heritage bedrooms. The accommodation is complete with MCM House furnished living and dining areas giving you a comfortable, luxe stay. It’s perfect for those who want apartment-style accommodation rather than a traditional hotel. Being above a pub it can be a bit noisy so if you’re a light sleeper pack earplugs. It’s also worth noting that street parking is available but is mainly limited to 2 hours until 6pm. There is no breakfast option onsite however a short five-minute stroll up the road is Gerard Cafe which does good coffee and nice breakfast options.

In addition to the dining and accommodation options, Camelia Grove Hotel also features a sports bar and kid’s play area making it an excellent spot for families. Whether you’re in the mood to watch the big game or enjoy a curated wine list with locals, this hotel has you covered.
