Imagine the sophistication of a classy gin bar but with a layer of 1970s rock ‘n ‘roll grime and you have yourself Sydney’s newest dive bar Brooklyn Social.

Enter through the black vinyl drapes, past the large neon Brooklyn Social sign and take a seat in one of the leather booths lining the tartan patterned walls.  Old school records and pictures of semi-naked foxy ladies are collaged around the room giving the space, formerly known as Distric Dining, a new edge.
The cocktail list pays tribute to the five boroughs of New York with a salute to the classics. From Brooklyn the 6th St Espresso is a vanilla infused rum, caramel liqueur, chocolate bitters and maple syrup twist on the much beloved espresso martini.

From Manhattan you have the Uptown Sour made with Monkey Shoulder Whisky shaken with Lairds AppleJack, lemon and cinnamon syrup.
If you’re not a cocktail kind of person (really?!!) they have Brooklyn Lager on tap and the food, well it’s greasy drinking food and it’s delicious. Mikey Canavan from Chur Burger has been enlisted to help create the menu serving up New York inspired diner meals. Some of our favourites include the mac and cheese balls, fried chicken with truffle aioli and sweet potato fries.

Not to mention the homemade cinnamon doughnuts that come with DIY chocolate syringes!

Food is served until 2am and there is no 1:30am lockout, Hurrah! There may already be a number of NY themed bars in Sydney however our love for The Big Apple hasn’t faded yet and we welcome Brooklyn Social with open arms.
