New Opening: Meet Bistrot 916 The New French Restaurant From Chef Dan Pepperell Now Open In Potts Point

Eat, Restaurants, Sydney / 8 February 2021

The former Lotus site has been transformed into Bistrot 916, headed up by the ex-Hubert and Alberto’s lounge Head Chef.

Potts Point is undeniably a hotspot for great dining destinations in Sydney. And now, the suburb is adding a new restaurant to its rank, with the opening of Bistrot 916 late last week.

The new French-inspired bistro is the brainchild of hospitality heavyweight Dan Pepperell. You’d probably be familiar with his name from his time at the Swillhouse Group, heading up the culinary direction of Restaurant Hubert and Alberto’s Lounge. And more recently, Dan has teamed up with the crew from Frankie’s Pizza to revamp their pizza menu with all new NYC-inspired toppings.

And now, Dan has teamed up with sommelier Andy Tyson and Rockpool Dining Group chef Michael Clift to open Bistrot 916 in the heart of Potts Point. Located on Challis Avenue, this new dining room has taken over the old site of Merivale’s Lotus pop-up (which had its last evening of service back in December 2020).

So, what can you expect when you dine at Bistrot 916? The menu at this French restaurant is seafood-focused while remaining true to French bistro classics. They’ll be the likes of oysters, steak au poivre, boudin noir spring rolls, and handmade pasta with garlic and snails on the menu.

As for drinks, the wine list will showcase a range of drops from some of the best vineyards across France and Australia, with plenty of wines from Burgundy, Champagne, and Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

Bistrot 916 is open now at 22 Challis Avenue, Potts Point. Currently, the restaurant is open for dinner seven nights a week. from February 12th, the restaurant will be serving lunch as well from Friday to Sunday. Find out more and book your spot here.
