User Management
Manage all registered users from WordPress Admin β Users β All Users.
Approving a Venue Lister
When a new DP Venue Lister completes registration, email verification, and payment, their account enters review_pending status. An admin must approve them before they can publish listings.
-
Navigate to Users
Go to WordPress Admin β Users β All Users. Filter by role DP Venue Lister to see pending listers.
-
Identify Pending Listers
Listers awaiting approval will have their
edp_lister_statusmeta set toreview_pending. Look for users who registered recently. -
Review the Lister's Profile
Click Edit on the user to view their details - name, email, and business information.
-
Approve or reject
In the Lister Status column, click Approve or Reject next to their badge. Approving moves them to approved_pending_start and automatically schedules their subscription to start; rejecting sets rejected. Both send the lister an email on their own β you don't need to send anything separately.
-
Or just correct the status yourself
A small dropdown sits under every badge in the Lister Status column. Use it to set the status directly β handy for fixing a mistake, or moving someone along without going through Approve/Reject.
Lister Status Values
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| email_pending | Registered, hasn't verified their email yet |
| plan_pending | Email verified, hasn't chosen a plan or paid yet |
| review_pending | Payment details saved, awaiting admin approval |
| approved_pending_start | Approved β subscription starts automatically on its start date |
| active | Subscription running, listing is live |
| rejected | Application rejected |
| expired | Subscription lapsed β payment failed or wasn't renewed |
Note: Admin access allows users to update or change any status when needed.
Sending a Payment Link
For anyone who hasn't paid yet β Plan Pending, Review Pending, Pending Start, expired β you can generate a real, working Stripe payment page and send it to them directly, instead of relying on the automated emails.
-
Find the person
Go to WordPress Admin β Users β All Users. This only shows up for someone who hasn't paid β Plan Pending, Review Pending, Rejected or Expired.
-
Generate the link
In the Lister Status column, click Generate Payment Link under their status badge.
Note: Each checkout link is valid for 24 hours from the time it is generated and can only be used once. Once payment has been completed or the session has expired, the link can no longer be reused.
-
Copy and send it
Click Copy Link, then paste it into an email, text message, or wherever you're reaching them.
-
Wait for payment
When they complete the payment, you'll receive a notification from Stripe.
Charging Venue Listers
Two ways to get a Venue Lister client onto a paid listing, both built on the same Generate Payment Link tool covered under Send a Payment Link above. The only difference between them is whether a Stripe promotion code is involved.
Pathway 1 β Normal Client, Normal Charge
-
Generate and send the link
Follow the steps under Send a Payment Link: click Generate Payment Link, then Copy Link, and send it to the client.
-
They pay the full price
Nothing is discounted unless they enter a promo code β see Pathway 2 below for that.
-
Confirm and activate
Check the payment in Stripe, then move the client's status forward yourself with the status dropdown (e.g. to active).
Pathway 2 β Normal Client, Discounted Charge
The payment link itself is identical either way β there's no separate "discounted link" button. The discount is applied by Stripe when the client enters a promo code on the payment page. Your job is to make sure that code exists and to give it to them.
-
Check or create the promo code
In the Stripe Dashboard, look under Product catalogue β Coupons and Promotion codes. Reuse an existing code (e.g. a standing "LAUNCH20"), or create a new Coupon (the discount itself) and a Promotion Code attached to it (the code the client will type in).
-
Generate and send the same link, plus the code
Click Generate Payment Link and Copy Link, exactly as in Pathway 1. Send the client both the link and the promo code.
-
They enter it at checkout
On Stripe's payment page there's an "Add promotion code" link near the total. The client enters the code there and the price updates in front of them before they pay.
-
Confirm and activate
Check Stripe to confirm the discounted amount was actually charged, then move the client's status forward yourself with the status dropdown, same as Pathway 1.

Offers
Up to 3 promotional offers can be attached to a venue. Each offer includes:
- Image - Offer thumbnail
- Title - Offer headline
- Description - Offer details / terms
- Supplier - Partner or supplier name
Advertisement Unit
Each venue listing can carry one advertisement unit. The ad is displayed only on Free Listings (not Sponsored or Editorial listings). It appears as a banner-style block within the venue detail page and is managed directly from the venue's WordPress admin edit screen.
Where to find it
- Go to WordPress Admin β Venues.
- Open (or create) the venue you want to advertise on.
- Scroll down to the Advertisement Unit meta box (below the main content editor).
Fields
| Field | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Image | Image upload (max 1) | The advertisement banner image. Must be exactly 480 px wide. Height is flexible but a landscape ratio (e.g. 480 Γ 160 or 480 Γ 240) works best. Upload via the media library - only one image is accepted. |
| Expiry Date | Date & time picker | The date and time when the advertisement stops showing. Once this moment passes the ad is automatically hidden on the front end - no manual action is needed. Leave blank to run the ad indefinitely. |
| Link | Text (URL) |
The destination URL the ad clicks through to (e.g. the
advertiser's website or a booking page). Enter the full URL
including https://.
|
How to add or update an advertisement
-
Open the venue in the WordPress admin editor (Admin β Venues β edit the venue).
-
Scroll to the Advertisement Unit meta box and click Add Media under the Image field. Select or upload an image that is exactly 480 px wide.
-
Click the Expiry Date field and pick the date and time the ad should stop running. The time defaults to midnight if left unchanged - adjust it if needed.
-
Paste the advertiser's destination URL into the Link field (must start with
https://). -
Click Update to save the venue. The ad is now live on the Free Listing page.
How expiry works
The expiry date is compared against the current server time on every page load. When the current time is past the stored expiry timestamp the advertisement block is not rendered - there is no cron job or manual step required. The image, link, and expiry value remain saved in the database so the ad can be re-activated by simply updating the expiry date to a future time.
Removing an advertisement
To remove an ad immediately, either:
- Set the Expiry Date to a past date/time and click Update, or
- Delete the image from the Image field and click Update - no image means no ad is displayed.
Gallery & Images
Each venue supports two image areas:
| Image Type | Field Name | Max Images | Usage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Banner Gallery | Banner Images | 10 | Hero carousel on venue detail page |
| General Gallery | Gallery Images | 5 | Additional image gallery |
| Featured Image | WordPress Feature Image | 1 | Thumbnail on listing cards, OG image |

How to Clear Cache
Method 1: From the WordPress Dashboard
- Go to the WordPress Dashboard.
- On the black bar at the top, find the green circle.
- Hover over the green circle.
- Click Clear CSS/JS Cache.
Method 2: Through Autoptimize
- Go to the WordPress Dashboard.
- Go to Settings β Autoptimize.
- Click Save Changes and Empty Cache.
The cache has now been cleared, allowing the website to load the latest version of your content and design changes.
We use hard caching to help improve the website's loading speed and overall performance. Because cached versions of pages are stored for faster loading, newly published posts or website updates may not appear immediately until the cache is cleared.
After clearing the cache, new posts, edits, images, CSS, and other updates will be reflected on the website while the caching system continues to help maintain fast page-loading speeds.
Done! The cache has been cleared and the website is ready to serve the latest updates.
Payments & Stripe
Venue Lister subscriptions are processed via Stripe. Configuration is managed in the theme code.
Subscription Expiry
Subscription expiry is tracked via the
edp_lister_expiry user meta (Unix timestamp). A WP-Cron
job runs periodically to check for expired subscriptions and update
lister status to expired automatically.
