The Lion King Musical Returns to the Capitol Theatre

Disney’s The Lion King is playing its final weeks at the Capitol Theatre, Sydney, wrapping up on Sunday 1 November 2026 before the show heads to Brisbane’s QPAC from 15 November. Since opening in April, it’s become the fastest-selling show in the Capitol Theatre’s history, selling out eight performances a week, a fitting run given the Capitol’s long history with the production, which first premiered on this very stage back in 2003.

Buyi Zama returns as Rafiki for a third time, joined by Nick Afoa as Mufasa and Daniel Frederiksen as Scar, bringing Disney’s signature puppetry and masks to life against Elton John and Tim Rice’s iconic score. Performances run most days with a mix of matinee and evening sessions, and pricing varies by date and seat, so it’s worth booking ahead before the season closes.
