Irish Film Festival Australia Brings 18 Films to Sydney and Beyond
Irish Film Festival Australia returns from Thursday 8th October to Sunday 15th November, marking its biggest program in 12 years with 18 films and documentaries, including 13 Australian premieres. Sydney’s season runs 8th–11th October at Palace Moore Park, with an Opening Night party on 8th October, before the festival travels on to Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Canberra, plus online nationwide via ACMI.
Opening night brings the Australian premiere of Chasing Millions, a comedy heist film inspired by the 2004 Northern Bank robbery, starring Madeleine Madden and Christopher Eccleston. The program also features Trad, starring Game of Thrones’ Aidan Gillen, fresh off a Galway Film Fleadh Audience Award; the folk-horror hit Fréwaka (Roots); and a classic retrospective screening of Hush-a-Bye Baby, marking the first film appearance of a young Sinéad O’Connor. Gala Opening Nights run in each city with live Irish music and complimentary drinks, alongside Q&As with Festival Director Dr Enda Murray and select filmmakers.
