Two of Sydney’s top sommeliers pour their passion into wines by the glass and more at Claret Club

Claret Club has arrived in Darlinghurst, bringing a wine-forward experience that balances sophistication with approachability. Founded by Bridget Raffal, of Inner West favourite Where’s Nick, and Harry Hunter, formerly of Rockpool, Bentley Group, and Dinner by Heston, the venue is a love letter to good wine and convivial dining. Spread across a two-storey terrace, the ground floor houses a dedicated wine bar for walk-ins, while upstairs, a European-inspired restaurant pairs à la carte dishes with Bridget and Harry’s extensive cellar selections.

The list is a sommelier’s dream, with 30 bottles by the glass currently available and an ambitious 800-bottle collection set to grow. Standouts include Grand Cru Burgundies and Bordeaux claret, alongside exceptional Australian vintages from Coonawarra, Margaret River, and the Yarra Valley. Head Chef Andy Buchanan’s menu, inspired by European classics and flavour-first cooking, is designed to complement the wine program perfectly. Think roast duck with summer cherries, gnocco fritto with anchovy and sage, and pig’s head croquettes with salsa verde.
