Review: Little National Hotel, Sydney

Bringing a slice of New York to Sydney, meet the Little National Hotel.

Since we can’t travel overseas right now, there’s something special that has landed in our own backyard. The new luxury Little National Hotel has transported us straight to New York in this boutique accommodation high above Wynyard.

The hotel is sleek, modern and tastefully minimal. With no large sign on the door, every step is a curious tale into the floors above.

We entered via the ground floor at a concierge desk and then found the lifts to go to reception. Immediately, we noticed that there are key cards needed to get everywhere, including into the lifts, and they will tell you which lift to stand at.

Remember how I mentioned this place is modern? It only gets better! At the huge reception we were greeted with a friendly smile and checked in seamlessly. If you’re looking for a contact-free option you can even check-in via the screens to one side of the room. The beautiful furniture and luxe finishes set the tone for the interiors to follow upstairs.

The rooms at Little National hotel are on the compact side, but nonetheless sleek, innovative and modern. What they lack in size, they exude in luxury and don’t compromise on quality.

The rooms are very inviting, with a huge super king-sized bed taking up one end, wall to wall. The ambience is magnificent, especially due to the lighting through the room. When you enter, the blinds rise slowly to reveal the streetscape below. Touch sensors adorn the walls instead of light switches to amp up, or down, the lighting in each area of the space. There is a curated Spotify playlist waiting for you, some tea, a newspaper, and luxuriously soft robes to get you into holiday mode.

Once you’re ready to check the place out, maybe with a sunset drink, the rooftop bar is New York all over. There are beautiful furnishings inside and out, a huge lounge, and a fireplace that screams sleek and sexy. With a few snacks and a fully stocked bar, grab a Little National cocktail or whatever takes your fancy, and you’ll be feeling right at home at their stunning rooftop bar.

With an in-house gym, rooftop bar, library space to do work or just chill in your room, Little National Hotel is a perfect place for a one-night stay or a little longer. Even though there’s no restaurant on site, you have Barangaroo or the CBD at your doorstep.

If you don’t want to leave, the great thing at Little National is that they encourage you to order Uber Eats or Deliveroo and let them know where you are sitting in the hotel, and they’ll bring it to you with a plate and cutlery which is awesome!
