Surround yourself with more than 900,000 tulips at Tesselaar Tulip Festival

Events, Melbourne, Play / 24 September 2019

Make the most of spring and plan a day trip to the Tesselaar Tulip Festival.

The Tulip Festival takes place on 25 acres of farmland in the Dandenong region, just one hour out of Melbourne and is running until October 14th. You’ll be greeted with a surprise on every corner as you wander through the brilliant display of tulips in all different colours, from bright yellows to classic reds. The festival this year also features Cherry Blossom trees which are currently in full bloom for the best photo opportunity. In between exploring the flowers, sit down and relax with live entertainment, delicious local and international food stalls, and markets with small trinkets for sale.

Although the colourful blooms are set for display throughout the entire festival, Tesselaar has an abundance of planned activities and weekend outings to make sure that no two days are the same. The food, wine and jazz weekend takes place on 27th – 29th September, where your ticket will include complimentary wine, cider and beer tastings from local wineries and breweries. Sip away amongst the flowers to tunes by Dr Jazz featuring The Tracey Roberts Combo and Ruby Ray, or join a clog dancing workshop to experience how the historic Dutch dance is done.

There are also lots of fun activities for children to enjoy, especially during children’s hero week (30th September – 3rd October). Popular masked heroes, PJ Masks will be performing full circle drumming alongside tulip fairytale sessions and the amazing superhero show on stage. Plenty of superheroes will also be roaming the park. Bonus points for those who dress up in their favourite superhero outfit, with daily prizes up for grabs.

If your child is a fur-baby instead, rest assured that the Tesselaar Tulip Festival is 100% dog friendly, provided they are on a leash. They also provide water for pups around the grounds so your furry best friend can stay hydrated during the day’s activities.

Tesselaar Tulip Festival is open everyday from 10am – 5pm, including public holidays. Tickets are available for purchase online here or in person at the festival. Children under 16 attend free!
