A New 3-Storey Restaurant and Rooftop Bar is Opening in Manly

Drink, Eat, Sydney / 30 January 2018

After nearly 4 years as an empty space, Manly Greenhouse is opening where the notorious Shore Club once lay.

It was back in November that we first caught wind that Manly’s Shore Club was being resurrected, and now those rumours have been confirmed. It’s time to say goodbye to the empty shell of a night club, with the beachside renovation set to open in April 2018. As for the restaurant’s name? Introducing, Manly Greenhouse.
The team behind Sails on Lavender Bay will open the premise, the name taking its cues from the relaxed culture and natural beauty of the coastal suburb. The name also symbolises a fresh start for the site once riddled with alcohol induced violence.
As for the layout, owners Greg Anderson and Patricia Nunes have enlisted award-winning studio Luchetti Krelle (ACME, Banksii) to design the space, accommodating 400 across its three levels. Like the name implies, it will come fit out with lush greenery, styled by local plant specialists The Plant Room.
On the first level, patrons will enjoy a casual street level bar, offering all-day dining. It’s designed to connect diners with both street and ocean views, while the open floor plan will offer close access to the bar, coffee counter and pizza oven.
The middle level welcomes a brand-new concept for the beachside destination, a refined restaurant centred around the charcoal grill. Rounding the space off will be a rooftop bar of epic proportions, offering panoramic views of Manly’s stunning waterfront. The central bar will be the focal point, situated under a canopy of cascading ferns.
According to owner Greg: ‘The space has been vacant for almost four years, a wasted opportunity for our locals and visitors to enjoy those spectacular views – whether over a morning coffee, intimate dinner or rooftop cocktail. We’ve witnessed the Manly Wharf grow in popularity over the years and we believe now is the time to breathe new life and hospitality into one of Sydney’s best beachfronts’.
Manly Greenhouse will open in April 2018. We haven’t yet received an official open day, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled.
