Smoke is Barangaroo's Newest Rooftop Bar

Bars, Drink, Sydney / 22 November 2017

Smoke, a 150-seater rooftop bar, is opening in Barangaroo just in time for those summer sessions.

We’ve all seen it. The epic three-story structure situated in the heart of Barangaroo that has been under lock and key since the precinct first launched. Well ahead of the much-anticipated launch of Matt Moran and the Solotel Group’s three level Barangaroo house, details have now emerged about the venue’s newest rooftop bar, Smoke.
This is no pokey rooftop space, with this new rooftop bar accommodating 150 outside and a further 100 inside. Not only does it come with epic harbour and city skyline views, but also a luxurious interior design. Think a range of textures from marble to brass, to timber, velvet and leather. Adding to this is a colour palette that moves from graphic whites and blacks to tones of pink, burnt orange and green.
On the cocktail list, you’ll find a mix of the classics including negronis, martinis and spritz and some original creations. Smoke will run as a recurrent theme throughout the 50+ cocktail list, with garnishes sourced from the suspending gardens surrounding the building itself.

Travelling to the wine list, Barangaroo House head sommelier John Paul Wilkinson has curated the 400-bin wine menu. Did we also mention there will be an extensive list of Champagne?!

Wilkinson, who’s experience includes stints in New York City, Abu Dhabi and extensive travel through the wine regions of South America says: “The wine list is different from other lists as we’ll have Champagnes that no other venue in Australia has – wines we import directly that we have sourced for Barangaroo House. We will be offering Champagne flights, and we will also pay homage to the best Australian sparkling producers.”

Head chef Cory Campbell, who will oversee the food on all levels of Barangaroo House, has created an weird and wonderful menu of imaginative tasting plates to match the wine and cocktail lists. Think caviar, tinned white anchovies, fried smoked brisket doughnuts and a sea urchin and orange jam toastie.

Pencil Friday 15 December into your calendars, as this will be Smoke’s official launch date.

Left your NYE plans to the last minute? For New Years Eve, Smoke will be offering an intimate front row view of the Harbour. Entertainment will include DJs and live acts. Tickets are $275 and include a shared menu designed by Campbell and a welcome drink.
