A Little More Café, Randwick Review

Cafes, Eat, Sydney / 4 February 2018

A Little More is at the forefront of Randwick’s rejuvenation.

A hub for uni students and families, Randwick’s Belmore Road isn’t often associated with trendy brunch hangouts. Since opening in late 2017, A Little More is giving locals just that. This cafe sets itself apart from others in the area by matching a simple interior aesthetic with affordable Instragramable dishes.
A Little More interior
From the street, diners are beckoned inside by A Little More’s glistening industrial feel. Cosy timber tables share the large floor space with an inviting bar where you can watch your avo be spread over its toast. Teamed with the endless shine of natural light are pops of greenery and oversized lightbulbs, bringing even more of the outdoors indoors.
A Little More fritters
As its name suggests, every breakfast classic on the all day menu is given a little twist. The sweet potato and corn fritters are fluffy delights. Matched with a punchy twang provided by thick slices of la boqueria chorizo and mojo picon (red pepper sauce), the dish is a welcome portion for just $19.
A Little More avo toastDespite the familiarity of the dish, A Little More’s avocado toast ($15) comes recommended from owner James O’Rourke. The large sourdough crust bursts to life thanks to the juxtaposing creamy sheep’s feta and the almond and macadamia dukkah.
For those looking to stray from the traditional brunch favourites, trial the scrambled eggs infused with Fraser Island Crab ($18) or the buckwheat hotcake with a sweet addition of whipped labneh and chocolate sauce ($18).
Of course, you could grab a coffee to go (starting from $3.50), but A Little More’s juices and smoothies will give your day a healthy start it needs. Combining apple, mint, cucumber and spinach, the beautifully presented Green Machine ($7.50) will convert any health juice sceptic. Why not come back every week and tempt yourself with the juice of the week?
A Little More muffin
The temptation doesn’t stop there. A Little More’s treat cabinet will stop you in your tracks as you settle the bill. An assortment of pleasures baked daily, the cabinet offers fresh croissants, slices and cakes. The raspberry muffin topped with a smooth coconut yoghurt is more than enough to tide you over until your next meal.
Whether it’s selling coffee to passers-by through the large open window, or charming diners with its perfectly refined take on brunch, A Little More is giving Randwick locals a much needed taste of the cafes that have become synonymous with its eastern suburbs siblings.
