Lastminute.com.au Secret Hotel Experience Review

Sydney, Travel / 14 January 2015

Can you keep a secret? Here’s what you need to know about the secret hotel experience from lastminute.com.au

For someone who keeps secrets for a living (Secret Foodies), it’s rare I get secret surprises myself. So when Lastminute.com.au offered for me to experience their new ‘Secret Hotels’ app I jumped at the chance.
I’ve used lastminute.com.au a lot to book flights and interstate hotels in the past. I’d always been curious about their secret hotel deals but was worried i’d end up with a 2 star hotel in the middle of nowhere. Turns out when you book a Secret Hotel they’re all five-star and almost all are in the CBD of capital cities.

So how does it work?
You book a hotel without knowing its name or exact address but you’re given clues- general location, star rating and hotel facilities. Upon booking you’re immediately sent an email with the name of the hotel and a booking confirmation. The price is up to 40% off, so you basically get a five-star stay, for three-star pricing (more cocktail spending money- yay)!
The Secret Hotel App was launched in December and is available in all Australian capital cities. You can book up to 72 hours out from your hotel stay (today, tonight or tomorrow). The deals are extra hot and really appeal to the type of person seeking a last minute spontaneous luxury escape, think – sporadic date night, forgotten anniversary present, or a sexy random hook up while out on the town (woot wooh).
For my secret hotel experience I was sent to Sofitel Sydney Wentworth in the heart of the city. Mr Woolhara and I packed our over night bags and quickly settled in to the good life with Champagne, strawberries and fluffy robes.

We’re both Sydney locals but felt like we were on a mini holiday. We waltzed down the road to Rockpool Bar and Grill where we sat at the bar and ate wagyu burgers and sipped Champagne. Then it was back to the hotel for the best sleep either of us have had in a long time. Breakfast was included in our stay so in the morning we sipped coffee in the Parisian style restaurant and wished it didn’t have to end.

Sadly, it did end but it made the weekend feel extra long and we vouched to book another secret lastminute.com.au hotel experience soon.
Thanks Lastminute.com.au for hosting me for this cool experience. To find out more information about their Secret Hotel Experience click here.
