PappaRich’s Spice Route Journey Is a Love Letter to Indian Influence in Malaysian Cuisine. From flaky roti to fragrant biryani, the cult Malaysian chain explores the flavours that travelled, settled and stayed.
PappaRich has never shied away from telling the deeper story behind Malaysian food, but its latest launch might be its most ambitious yet. Dubbed The Spice Route Journey, the new Flavours Menu dives into the South Indian influences that have quietly shaped some of Malaysia’s most iconic dishes.
Unveiled at PappaRich’s Store flagship, the menu is a celebration of the Mamak and Indian Muslim communities whose culinary traditions helped define modern Malaysian hawker food. Think familiar favourites, reworked with layered spices, slow-cooked gravies and comforting richness.
At the heart of the menu are two much-loved staples: Biryani and Roti Canai. The biryanis arrive fragrant and generous, with options spanning tender curry lamb, classic Tandoori chicken, and a playful Chicken 65 version that adds crunch, heat and attitude. The Roti Canai, already a hero at PappaRich, is elevated with sides of smoky tandoori chicken or rich curry lamb, complete with cooling raita to balance the spice.
