Where To Drink During Fashion Week

Drink, Food Guide, Sydney / 9 April 2014

Fashion Week can be stressful work – what with all the pressure to look like a supermodel every day – and what’s a better antidote to stress than a nice drink? We’ve complied a list of the best places in which you can imbibe and indulge after a long day. Each venue on this list is within walking distance to the Carriageworks; the hub of Sydney Fashion Week 2014.

Cornerstone Bar

There’s nothing closer – it’s literally onsite at Carriageworks and just waiting to quench your thirst! The entire bar has been taken over for Fashion Week, with a Rekorderlig Cider Bar occupying the entirety of Level 2. Perfectly complemented by food from Fresh Catering especially for the event, there’s no better place to let your hair down after a long day.

Freda’s

The light and life of Chippendale, Freda’s boasts a speakeasy vibe and a laid-back atmosphere complete in a warehouse-style space. Sip a refreshing French martini, spoil that sweet tooth with a Cognac chocolate blend or try the surprising Campari Corazon. And with both Mediterranean and Australian wines on offer, you’ll be spoilt for choice.

Ester

The drinks at Ester always lure in the locals and keep them in until well after dark. The wine list is as long as nearby Regent Street, but tucking into a small back alley, you wouldn’t even know it was there. If the day hasn’t been good to you, there’s a huge selection of spirits and liqueurs – with a delicious food menu to match.

Kuki Tanuki

If sake is your poison of choice, then look no further! The extensive list of sake and shochu educates you on the difference between varieties while you drink – although whether you remember what you read is a different issue. And for those less interested in foreign brews, there’s plum wine, cider and a selection of cocktails and offer. Plus, they play music at happy hour!

suzi-q-1

Suzie Q

To the untrained eye, it’s a coffee and records store, but to the alcohol aficionado, it’s a haven for the casual boozer. The menu keeps it simple with pear cider, local beers and a good, compact selection of reds, whites and rose. Toss in some prosecco, relax in surrounds that look remarkably like grandma’s garden and you’ll be laughing all the way to tipsy-town.
