Haven’t been to Grain Bar in a while? With one of the world’s best bartenders fronting the team, it’s time to pay a visit.
While there’s no shortage of talented bartenders in Sydney, when word got out that one of the world’s best was arriving to our sunny shores, it naturally caused quite a stir. Arriving fresh from Singapore’s Manhattan, voted number 1 bar in Asia and number 3 in the world in 2018, the talented Cedric Mendoza has now been appointed Head Bartender at the Four Season’s Grain Bar.
Cedric first got a taste for Sydney’s dynamic bar scene back in late 2018, when he joined the Grain team for a Manhattan x Grain bar collaboration. Now calling Sydney home, Cedric’s new-age techniques and craftsmanship are set to significantly shake up the bars industry, giving lovers of a tipple or two the chance to drink some of the world’s best cocktails, all without leaving the city.
As for what to expect at Grain Bar, Cedric’s fascination with Australian produce has resulted in concoctions like Kangaroo soaked in mezcal in the lead up to Rye July. You’ll also spot some of Cedric’s favourite whiskies on the menu, alongside Rye Vodka, Rye Gin’s and more.
Talking to Grain’s Bar Manger Roderick Boerma, he’s quick to remark that ‘Cedric’s appointment and venture down under is exciting for the bars industry, hotel bars in Australia are due for a comeback and that’s exactly what Cedric’s here to do’.
Talking to Cedric more about his favourite drink, he has one for each day of the week!
