Take a dip at this top-notch giant wave pool, slated to open in Sydney in 2022.
We don’t need to remind you that Sydney has some of the best beaches around. From the eastern suburbs to the northern beaches, we’re spoilt for choice when it comes to finding a great spot to surf. But if you’re looking to kick back and escape the city for a weekend of surfing, we’ve found the luxe new spot to add to your radar.
Slated to open in 2022, Wisemans Surf Lodge is set to be the ultimate luxe surfing oasis. The 45-acre surf park was just approved by The Hills Shire Council, set to give locals and Sydneysiders alike the chance to hit the waves all year round.
Located on the Hawkesbury River (just over an hour’s drive from Sydney), this is Australia’s first resort-style surfing destination. This mega surfing paradise boasts a massive wave pool (said to be the size of four football fields), along with a 9-hole golf course, 54 hotel suites, an on-site restaurant, and bar plus riverfront access.
The perfect blend of surf and bushland, Wisemans Surf Lodge uses epic technology to make these waves happen. It’s a US-based wave tech that creates epic 2.5-meter waves as well as smaller waves for less adventurous surfers.
This epic surfing retreat has been designed by leading architect Kelvin Ho (Akin Atelier), responsible for the design of a bunch of Merivale venues, Maldive resorts, and fashion outlets such as Dion Lee, Camilla and Marc, and more.
Wisemans Surf Lodge is the brainchild of co-founders John Du Vernet and pro surfers including Stephanie Gilmore and Joel Parkinson. There’s also hospo heavyweights involved, including 4 Pines co-founder Jaron Mitchell and co-founder of Balter Brewing Company Sean Ronan.
Wisemans Surf Lodge is slated to open in 2022, with more details on membership and rates coming in 2021. Stay up to date here.
