Viva La Renaissance, give us pastries!
After bringing us their famous handmade pastries, cakes and tarts for over 40 years at The Rocks, French pâtisserie La Renaissance is opening a second location in Waterloo, Sydney. So get excited for another spot to indulge in your favourite authentic French pastries.
French-trained co-owner and Master Patissier, Jean Michel Raynaud, has perfected many pâtisserie classics. From delectable cherry and pistachio tarts to salted caramel macarons and warm apple turnovers, he knows them all. Raynaud and his team have a strong attention to detail and a dedication to the art of the pastry. This has seen him admitted into the prestigious Relais Desserts, an international pâtisserie association of the highest acclaim. So rest assured that you’re in very good hands.
After picking up a box of delicious cakes and pastries, you’ll also be able to enjoy a bite for lunch. The new Waterloo location welcomes a small café with a whole menu of goodies, including the cult La Renaissance favourite, pork, fennel and bacon sausage roll. Bursting with flavour and wrapped in light, crisp French butter puff pastry, it won’t disappoint.
If you’d like to bring that French flavour home with you, the Waterloo cafe will allow you to learn the tricks of the trade from Raynaud himself with a series of hands on masterclasses. Head to their website to find out more.

Valued at $75, the basket includes:
1x small tranche au chocolat – a chocolate sponge lightly moistened with Grand Marnier, layered and covered with pistachios, walnuts, almonds and Valrhona chocolate ganache.
1 x box of pâte de fruits – acidic, sweet jellies made with pure fruit purée.
