Eat, Film & Art, Play, Sydney / 14 November 2022

The world’s most beautiful cinema will return to Sydney Harbour for a massive 45 night season!

When booking a trip to the cinema we rarely think about the venue itself. But, when it comes to this epic outdoor cinema, the views are well and truly the best part of the show. Taking up residence at the stunning Mrs Macquaries Point, adjacent to the Royal Botanic Garden, Westpac OpenAir Cinema is set to host 45 nights of top-notch entertainment alongside sparkling water views.

With loads of brilliant films to be announced later this month, the programme kicks off with Steven Spielberg’s coming-of-age drama The Fablemans on Sunday 8 January. Expected to be a major contender at next year’s Academy Awards, it is the perfect prelude to a spectacular summer of cinema on Sydney’s iconic harbour.

Swap the popcorn for delicious eats from Kitchen by Mike – as acclaimed local chef Mike McEnearney introduces Fish & Chips, burgers, wraps and salads to the Royal Botanic Garden, as part of a new and wonderfully varied menu at The Point. This year, the menu will also feature a selection of premium dining options set to be announced later this month. In addition, the programme will be pouring up Harbourside cocktails and music from some of Sydney’s leading DJs, it will be the perfect sunset vibe on Sydney Harbour!

This year’s extraordinary program of films includes; Todd Field’s Tar, starring Cate Blanchett and Sam Mendes’ Empire of Light starring Olivia Colman and Colin Firth; spectacular screenings of She Said starring Carey Mulligan; The Lost King with Steve Coogan and Sally Hawkins; and Olivia Wilde’s drama fuelled Don’t Worry Darling starring Florence Pugh and Harry Styles. The Palme D’Or winning comedy Triangle of Sadness will also screen, as well as the much-loved Mrs Harris Goes to Paris and Good Luck to You, Leo Grande starring Emma Thompson and directed by Australian Sophie Hyde.

Big blockbusters will also grace the giant screens as part of the summer lineup, sit back, relax and enjoy your all-time favourite movies, backdropped to one of the best views in Sydney.
