Sydney’s most spectacular outdoor cinema, Westpac OpenAir, is turning up the heat for its 2025 season with an epic addition: the ‘Festival of Food’

Kicking off on January 9th 2025, this much-loved summer event isn’t just about stunning views and blockbuster films—it’s now a foodie paradise, featuring three dining experiences from some of Sydney’s culinary greats.

Picture a balmy summer evening, the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge glowing in the background, and the city’s best chefs crafting dishes to pair with your film of choice. All projected onto a towering three-storey high screen while you sit back and enjoy the view and the film! This year, the ‘Festival of Food’ is helmed by renowned chefs Luke Nguyen, Danielle Alvarez, and Scott McComas-Williams, offering dining options to suit every craving.

For a relaxed pre-screening bite, ‘Luke Nguyen at The Point’ is your go-to. Think caramelised pork belly bao, Wagyu cheeseburger spring rolls, and mango parfait—all ordered via QR code while soaking up sunset harbour views.

Prefer something more refined? Head to ‘Fabbrica at Chandon Garden’, where Scott McComas-Williams will serve an elevated pasta bar menu. Crowd-pleasers include zucchini flowers with hot honey and mafaldine with prawns and kombu butter.

If you’re after the full luxury experience, book a table at ‘Summer House Dining by Danielle Alvarez’. Perched on a raised deck, this premium pop-up offers a Mediterranean-inspired menu (skirt steak with chimichurri may be calling our name) and sweeping harbour views, complete with reserved grandstand seating.

This season, Westpac OpenAir delivers its most star-studded lineup yet, featuring Australian premieres and highly anticipated blockbusters:

  • A Complete Unknown starring Timothée Chalamet as a young Bob Dylan
  • Babygirl, featuring Nicole Kidman
  • Queer, directed by Luca Guadagnino and starring Daniel Craig
  • The Count of Monte Cristo, direct from the Cannes Film Festival
  • We Live in Time, starring Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield
  • Better Man, the Robbie Williams biopic
  • Maria, with Angelina Jolie
  • Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy
  • Gladiator II
  • Wicked, the Broadway musical adaptation
  • Elton John: Never Too Late
  • Conclave, a gripping political drama
