Why Wander Woolooware Is Worth the Trip

Wander Woolooware is an intimate 24-seat restaurant near Cronulla, where Shire-raised chef-owner Alexis Noble has brought her London restaurant home after seven years in the UK. The menu is a fortnightly-changing 5-course set menu, drawn from her travels and food memories.

On the evening we dined, we enjoyed dishes including zucchini fritti with hot honey and rocket salad, a wholesome cauliflower and white miso soup, mussels cooked in cider with nduja, cherry tomato and Thai basil, a hearty pork shoulder lasagna, and to finish it off, a beautiful polenta cake with mandarin sorbet, finger lime and toasted meringue.

Alexis has also curated the short drinks list filled with personal relationships she has with each of the makers behind every wine, beer and spirit on the list. Even the handmade crockery is hers, thrown and built under her own label, Wander at Home, which gives the whole room the feel of being cooked for in someone’s home.
