The Rocks’ Newest Taverna: Jimmy’s Kitchen

/ 18 November 2025

The Rocks has welcomed Jimmy’s Kitchen, a deeply personal Greek taverna that’s as much about family legacy as it is exceptional food.

Hospitality veteran Chris Drivas has opened this intimate 22-seat restaurant as a heartfelt tribute to his late father, Jimmy, recreating the authentic Greek dining experience that shaped his childhood.

What makes this venue truly special is 82-year-old Chef Marko Taxidis, who first cooked alongside Jimmy in Sydney back in the 1950s and remains part of the family today. Together, Chris and Marko deliver traditional Greek flavors with genuine heart, including their standout Astakos Kritharaki featuring tender lobster with perfectly cooked orzo.

The cosy space feels like stepping into a Greek home, complete with sandstone walls, royal blue accents, and shelves lined with olive oils and preserves.
