Don’t fear the absence of restaurant-quality food during this lockdown. These adored restaurants across Sydney are now offering takeaway!

Sydney is in lockdown, yet again. Luckily, these iconic restaurants across Sydney have pivoted their offering to takeaway. What does this mean for us foodies? It means we can still enjoy restaurant-quality food including finer dining style dishes, top-notch vino, and even their signature cocktails from the comfort of our own home. We have curated a list of the best restaurants that don’t usually offer takeaway but now are during lockdown 2.0.

Alpha, Sydney

For top-notch Greek food in Sydney, we’d go Alpha every time. The restaurant has introduced a weekly take-home menu available for pick-up and delivery from Tuesday to Saturday. ‘Alpha At Home’ includes crowd favourites such as their meze offerings, Spanakopita, and Greek Spiced Slow Roasted Lamb. Dear Saint Eloise, Potts Point

Up the ante with a Dear Saint Eloise Date Night Pack for two, for just $65. The menu changes weekly but you’ll see dishes like Braised Beef Short Ribs, Jerusalem Artichoke Cassoulet and Paris Mash. This local gem is offering all of their bistro classics takeaway, every day. If you’re feeling fancy or want to up the romance in the house, we suggest ordering their dinner set menu available on Friday, July 2. For cheese, charcuterie, and canned cocktails, we suggest hitting up Continental Deli Bar & Bistro. The deli shelves are stacked high with everything you need to get through lockdown in style. Osteria Coogee, Coogee

As the weather cools down, digging into a bowl of homemade pasta is what we’re all craving. Bringing the best of Italian cuisine to you is Osteria Coogee. Arthur, Surry Hills

Surry’s favourite date night spot is doing takeaway and it’s nothing like their regular menu. The chefs have created a different special for Wednesday through to Sunday. Wednesday you see Angus Beef Short Rib Tacos, Thursday is Sichuana Chicken Dan Dan, Friday is Pork & Mushroom Lasagne, Saturday is Australian Curry and Sunday is Slow Cooked Duck Cassoulet. The Saint Peter x Fish Butchery lockdown spin-off is back! Each day, Josh Niland and his team will prepare a different meal that you can cook at home. With all the ingredients and cooking instructions, you will be able to feed two people from your home. You can order online here

Cicciabella, Bondi Beach

Bondi’s favourite Italian eatery has reopened and is now serving “Takeaway For The Home” packs. The almost-ready meals just require you to cook the pasta, and includes dishes such as Ricotta, Prosciutto, Focaccia, hand-rolled Strozzapreti with an Osso Buco Ragu and Tiramisu. Bar Suze, Surry Hills

This Scandinavian bistro has morphed into a takeaway Fish & Chip shop this lockdown. From Beer-Battered Flathead, Crumbed Sardines, and Fried Halloumi, you’ll have all the comfort food you need to get through the lockdown. Olio, Chippendale

Bring a little piece of Sicily to your home with Olio takeaway! They have introduced a ‘Str’eats of Sicily’ concept where a food cart will be on Kensington Street from 12pm – 8pm Tuesday to Sunday. The menu will change depending on availability, but you can expect Triple-Cooked Octopus, Smoked Buffalo Burrata, Artisinal Squid Ink Pasta, Pork Ragu Parpadelle and Tiramisu. They’ve even got a range of Sicilian wines and local drops available.

Giro, Cronulla Beach

Cronulla’s favourite Italian has gone takeaway and the whole town is talking about it. Another lockdown is upon us, but Bar Zini in Pyrmont is not letting this ‘hamper’ their spirits. Chef-Owner Damian Krigstein has put together an epic five-course Italian hamper that will transport you to the trattorias of Italy in no time. Every Thursday and Friday, Bar Zini is offering a five-course hamper for 2 with a bottle of wine at an astounding $120. The old North Bondi Fish has transformed into North Bondi Nami for the winter and lockdown isn’t stopping them from slinging you ramen! They’re offering an abridged menu of warming meals and snacks including Tonkotsu Ramen, Daily Market Sashimi, Gyoza, Charred Edamame with Togarashi Chilli, Soba Noodle Salad and Ora King Salmon. This Saturday 17 July, a selection of premium raw cuts from the Moran Family Farm will be available to take-away from Chiswick, accompanied by a Matt Moran recipe card to recreate the perfect steak at home. Chiswick has also introduced new pescetarian and vegetarian bake-at-home specials including a Fish Pie + Spinach, Preserved Lemon and Feta Filo Pie, available in limited numbers to order ahead and collect in-venue on Saturdays. This is in addition to the ‘Chiswick at home’ menu, available from Tuesday to Sunday. Efendy has brought back its soup and pide cart serving free lentil soup and pide bread to the local community. The soup and pide will be available from 4pm daily throughout lockdown, for as long as stock allows. An honesty box will be available accepting gold coin donations from those in the position to help Efendy support staff until they are able to reopen. For those looking to recreate the Efendy experience at home, a takeaway Turkish Feast is also available with homemade Turkish bread, dips, mixed meat and vegetable pides, and baklava. The team have designed a delicious new at-home offering as the restaurant is unable to reopen. They will be offering nourishing dinner boxes to take the stress out of cooking.
