The Sydney Festival has been running for over 35 years and embraces the energy and style of Syndey in summer. Join the celebration of one of the world’s most beautiful cities during this summer period. We checked out the program and picked our favourite events from free yoga to Triple J’s concert, to Ferrythons.

So Frenchy So Chic

Celebrate everything French with French music, French picnics and French charcuterie boards. Enjoy the styling of La Femme, Frànçois & The Atlas Mountains, Chanteuse Émilie Simon and The Dø as you kick off your shoes and dance your night away. Booking is essential. Beat The Drum: Celebrating 40 Years of Triple J

Celebrate this milestone with Triple J whilst enjoying the best sounds of music that Australia has to offer. From Hilltop Hoods to Vance Joy to The Presets, join the passion of Australian culture with tickets costing $86. 16th January 4-11 pm. The Domain.

Vintage Quartestra

Listen to the theme songs of your favourite movies and cartoons as this band create their own playful take on the songs. You can once again enjoy the thrill and valour of Spider-Man, Transformers and Astro Boy theme songs, the fun and memorable jingles of Maisy and SpongeBob SquarePants and more. 20-25 January. 2:30pm daily. Around the Festival Village.

#1 Dads

Big Scary frontman Tom Iansek makes his live debut as #1 Dads. His new release About Face was named “one of the records of this year” by the Sydney Morning Herald and you can hear it for the first time with a live band on 22th January at 5:45pm. The Famous Spiegeltent. Tickets $29.

Symphony In The Domain

Join the evening of classical music and the sounds of contemporary Indigenous Australia with ARIA award-winning performer, William Barton. Listen in, as Barton joins the Sydney Symphony Orchestra to perform Peter Sculthorpe’s Beethoven Variations. 18th January 8 pm. The Domain.

Sky Terrace

As sunset falls, Sky Terrace lights up. Kick back into the night with an impressive line-up of local and international DJs with alfresco food and drinks. With a program of their own, expect to see Norman Jay, Total Eclipse, The X-Ecutioners and more running between 8-26 January. The Star. See program HERE

Ferrython

Ladies and gents get ready, as we’re going to the races. Not to the horse races though, but to the ferry races. As one of Australia’s most popular event, Ferrython will see ferries go head-to-head from Circular Quay to Shark Island and back. Pack a picnic and gather on the foreshore to cheer on the ferries as they get fast and furious. 26th January 11am.
