Christmas really is the best time of the year. The smell of gingerbread and pine trees, mixed in with Michael Buble’s best-off festive album and glazed ham is enough to make anyone a little giddy. Want a sure fire means of getting into the Christmas spirit? Rally the troops and head along to one of these Christmas markets. You won’t be disappointed.
Carriageworks are no strangers to the markets scene, running weekly produce driven events each week. This festive season they’ll be hosting a special Christmas edition, bringing together 120+ local producers and artisans on Saturday 22nd December. With a focus on food and produce, you’ll find everything from ham to lamb and seafood, fresh fruit, vegetables, cheeses and Christmas puddings. Adding to this will also food themed gift stalls with unique gifting of ceramics, cookbooks, aprons and more.

Kurnell Christmas Market
For the first time, Sydney Cambridge Markets are coming to the Shire, with a brand new Christmas event. Hosted at Bonna Point on 25th November, the 120-stall market will feature creative, artistic and environmentally sustainable goods, foods and Christmas wares. Get everything from your Christmas gifts to glazed ham, wrapping paper, cards, candles, pudding and more.

Watsons Bay Twilight Market
Cambridge Markets is returning to Watsons Bay with its striking twilight Christmas event. Running on Friday 7th December for one night only, punters will have access to over 120 boutique stalls selling everything from homewares, to fashion and toys. You can also feast on an array of hot food, plus sip beverages from the likes of Archie Rose, Grifers and Tulloch wines at one of the four bars on offer. Running from 3pm-9pm at Robertson Park, stroll amongst the Christmas lights and keep your eye out for Santa. He’s predicted to make an appearance!

Cambridge Christmas Markets at EQ
Moore Park locals are getting a taste of the festive action with the inaugural Christmas Markets hosted at the Entertainment Quarter. Running on Saturday 15th December from 8am-5pm, the day will see over 150 high-quality boutique stalls selling festive food, toys, homewares, fashion and more. You can get your hands on a variety of hot food, craft and local beers and wines from EQ’s own The Urban Winery. The whole family is welcome, with activities for children plus live music on offer. There will be a wintery Christmas exhibit courtesy of Off-Piste Ski and Snowboard complete with Santa and snow. To cap it all off, Santa will be there from 11.00am to 2.00pm singing all the best Christmas Carols.

The Rocks Christmas Village
This December, The Rocks Markets gets set to host its special Christmas edition. Running from 12th November right up until game day on 25th December, head along and immerse yourself in an array of stalls. Get your gifts sorted before indulging in a beer at The Endeavour Tap Rooms, or an Aperol Spritz from The Observer Hotel, hosting a special Spritz bar during the festive season. The markets will also extend its trading hours to 9pm on Fridays throughout December and will be open in the week leading up to Christmas on December 21st, 22nd and 23rd for any last-minute shopping needs.
The festive spirit will continue with roving entertainment in the cobblestone streets and DJ’s spinning festive tunes every Friday and Saturday night from 7-10pm.

Chippendale Christmas Market
Stroll down to Something for Jess café this festive season and wander through the stalls of the first ever Chippendale Christmas Market. Running on Sunday 9th December, peruse over 15 boutique stalls which have been curated with quality over quality in mind. Christmas Village at Park House, Mona Vale
The North Pole is heading to the Northern Beaches this festive season, as Mona Vale’s Park House launches a month of festive fun at its Christmas Village. The outdoor food and drinks precinct is transforming into a Christmas wonderland from 28th November until 27th December, complete with lights, Christmas tree and a calendar packed full of activities. Highlights include Christmas Night Markets, a giant snow globe, gingerbread making classes, Christmas cocktail time, Santa photos plus more.

For one evening only, Sydney Living Museums is set to transform into a Christmas wonderland, as they host their very own Christmas Fare at the Hyde Park Barracks Museum. For one night only on Thursday 13th December, feast your eyes on over 40+ stalls featuring some of Sydney’s finest artisan producers, makers and ready-to-eat gourmet food vendors. You’ll also be treated to a pop-up boutique bar, teamed with live entertainment and complimentary Museum entry.

Is it really an Aussie Christmas without freshly shucked oysters and copious prawns? Returning in 2018 is the Sydney Fish Market’s 36 Hour Seafood Marathon. Running from 23rd December from 5am until 24th December at 5pm, nab some of the freshest seafood in the city. While you’re there, purchase fresh fruit and vegetables, deli produce, premium meats and even Seafood School Class Vouchers – for those in need of a last minute Christmas gift.
