Beer lovers rejoice! Sydney Beer Week is back and it’s jammed packed with fun foamy goodness.

Sydney’s biggest celebration of beer is back! Spanning over nine days in October, Sydney Beer Week is hosting over 130 events all across Sydney to commemorate this glorious foamy ale. With everything from beer education classes to degustation dinners and beer pairings, here are a few of our top picks to quench your thirst during October.

Sydney Beer Week Opening Gala

Kick off Sydney Beer Week in style at the Opening Gala. Hosted at the Australian National Maritime Museum on Friday 20th October, you’ll get the chance to sample beers from some of Sydney and NSW’s best breweries. There will also be food trucks, live entertainment and more! Ticket includes entry and a branded SBW beer glass to take home. Tasting tokens and food will be available for purchase on the day.

Lord Nelson at Mordeo Sydney: 5 Course Food and Beer Extravaganza

In an exciting collaboration, Mordeo Bistro & Bar is teaming up with the legendary brewers from Lord Nelson Brewing to bring you five courses of southern European fare. At this food and beer extravaganza, each dish will be matched to a selection of Lord Nelson finest brews.

Acre Eatery x Wayward Brewing

Camperdown’s beloved Acre Eatery is joining forces with Wayward Brewing this Sydney Beer Week to bring you a one-night-only five course beer degustation dinner. Five Wayward brews will be paired with five Acre dishes, both specially curated for the event and hosted in Acre’s gorgeous dining room.

When: Tuesday 24th October, 6pm – 10pm

TINS OUT for Sydney Beer Week

Marking Newtown Hotel’s biannual tinnie fair, TINS OUT  will feature over 100 different craft beer and cider tinnies. You can mix and match any 4 tinnies for $25, which includes free tastings at the bar and the chance to ‘meet the brewer’. Vote for your favourite beer and the winning tinnie will go on sale for $1 until sold out. There’s also a tinnie sculpture competition and a $5 mystery tin(der dates) – beer inspired food menu.

Beer and Cheese: The Perfect Pairing

There’s no denying that wine and cheese are a match made in heaven. What fewer people realise though is that beer and cheese is just as delicious, if not more versatile. Join a panel of experts as you taste 6 brews from Young Henrys and The Grifter Brewing Company, matched with cheeses from Newtown local, The Stinking Bishop.

When: Monday 23rd October, 7pm-12am

Yak Ales Lazy Lawn Bowls

Gather the whole herd for an evening of Lazy Lawn Bowls, courtesy of Yak Ales. Inspired by the Lazy Yak Australian Pale Ale, this free event promises fun and plenty of brews during Sydney Beer Week.

Beer Trivia at The Inn

Bring your knowledge of all things beer as a Quizmaster takes you through four rounds of questions. Sample the entire James Squire range on the night, but try to keep your whits about you as each round will see the giveaway of prizes from James Squire. There will also be discounted schooners on the night as well as a small James Squire inspired beer menu.

When: Wednesday 25th October, 7pm-10pm.

Who said your beloved pooch needs to miss out on the action? The Grifter Brewing Co & New Zealand brewery Parrot Dog will be joining forces for the second year running during Sydney Beer Week. Bring your furry friend down to the brewery for an afternoon of beers in the sunshine. Tuck into LP’s Quality Meats famous Hot Dogs, washing it all down with beers on tap from both breweries.

Batch’s Seafood Cookout ‘n’ Cornhole at the Club

Batch Brewing Co. is teaming up with Petersham Bowling Club for a seafood bonanza. Lunch will include a seafood cook up of crabs, prawns and more plus ice cold beers from Batch Brewery. They’ll also have games of cornhole running. What’s cornhole? It’s a lawn game where players take turns throwing bags of corn at a raised platform with a hole in the far end. After a few beers you can only imagine the fun to be had.

 When: Saturday 21st October, 1pm-5pm
