RND, Bondi’s Newest Seaside Izakaya Is Offering Takeaway

Eat, Sydney / 21 July 2021

Travel through taste with a takeaway order from Bondi’s newest Japanese eatery.

Just when you thought the food scene in Bondi couldn’t get any better, Harry Lambropulos (Owner of Harry’s Cafe and Raw Bar) has gone ahead and opened a premium Japanese Izakaya venue, the seaside edition. RND Bondi, also known as Raw Next Door is situated directly next door to Harry’s Bondi, a convenient spot for local foodies to gather amongst the sea breeze for a good feed. The restaurant has been redesigned by the team at Guru Projects. They have a reputation for transforming epic restaurants like The Sunset Diner and EZRA, so it was a sure bet they’d make something special out of the space. The place now boasts natural wooden door frames and exposed concrete bar and floors giving a true nod to Japanese style and design, and creating an ultra-luxe space for diners.

The team opened the doors in April and the venue had a totally vibrant and elective energy to suit the Bondi lifestyle. Little did they know, COVID had other plans for them. For those who didn’t get a chance to try this brand new Izakaya offering, or those dreaming about their next visit, the restaurant is now offering takeaway. The menu has been led by Head Chef Dan Rocha and Operations Manager Jonna Kristiansson. Expect to taste authentic Japanese flavours within dishes designed to suit Western palettes.

The takeaway menu features all the classics elevated, Edamame Beans seasoned with sea salt and smoked soy, Gyoza with pan-seated pork and roasted sesame ponzu and Fried Rice with bokchoy, sugar snaps and tahini. The mains step it up a notch with dishes including Smoked Chicken Ramen with rich pork broth, roasted tomato, egg, daikon and salted kombu, Seared Salmon Carpaccio with fermented chilli, salted cucumber and pickled radish, as well as a selection of Yakitori with a honey and soy glaze, shallot and lime.

Although we can’t visit yet, this is a restaurant we definitely have on our radar post lockdown. Find out more here
