Red Cross Clothing Drive & Uber will pick your clothes up for free, making it easier than ever to give your pre-loved pieces a second chance!
Did you know 84% of Aussies have wardrobes full of clothes they no longer wear but won’t donate? We’ve all been guilty of snagging the latest styles, only for them to gather dust in the closet. But here’s a chance to turn that fashion faux pas into something meaningful. The Australian Red Cross and Uber have teamed up to make it easier than ever to give your pre-loved pieces a second chance with the Red Cross Clothing Drive, happening this Saturday, 19th October.
With spring in full swing, it’s the perfect time to declutter your wardrobe and give back. The drive makes donating hassle-free – Uber will pick up your clothes for free and drop them off at a Red Cross Shop, where they’ll be resold to help fund essential humanitarian programs. Fact: There’s an estimated $20 billion worth of unused clothing sitting in wardrobes across the country. Let’s help shift that stat!
Here’s how it works:
- On Saturday 19th October, from 10am to 4pm (local time), fire up the Uber app and select the ‘Red Cross Clothing Drive’ option.
- Bag up your quality items – aim for pieces you haven’t worn in a year, but are still in great condition.
- Track the Uber as it arrives to pick up your donation right from your doorstep. Easy!
Things to remember:
- If it’s worn out or damaged, it’s best to skip donating it – Australians are less likely to buy heavily worn clothes.
Keep your donation under 20kg so it fits easily in the car.
Last year, over 100,000kg of clothes were donated in just one day. Let’s keep that momentum going.
