Go Swimming at a Free Pop-up Pool in Hyde Park

Cool Sh*t, Sydney / 17 January 2018

Cool off in the park this summer in a shipping  container pop-up pool.

It’s that time of year again when Sydney Festival presents a wondrous array of free sites and sounds to check out. One such event to put at the top of your list should be the Village Pools. Situated in the heart of Hyde Park as a part of the Sydney Festival, you’ll find a number of make-shift containers.
These have been converted into small pools, complete with inflatable toys. Outside the pools themselves, there will be a range of lounge chairs so that you can properly soak up those summer rays.
It’s BYO towel and swimmers so be sure not to arrive empty handed. Also be warned, there doesn’t appear to be any change facilities so you might need to do the old change under the towel manoeuvre. Or maybe wear your swimmers underneath.
The pop-up pools are available to the public from 5th – 28th January from 4:30pm until late. Entry is also FREE, so be sure to get down there quick to avoid waiting too long.
Take note! The pools won’t be open on Mondays.
Need further entertaining post-dip? The Village Festival is also playing host to a range of epic activities.
Why not check out the freaky virtual reality Ghost Train or bang out a tune on the Karaoke Carousel. You can also dance inside a giant colourful cube filled with glitter and get yourself involved in 10 minute dance parties. Gin lovers can quench their thirst at the pop-up Four Pillars gin bar as well. Happy days.
