Pichon Norwest, where Italian deli culture meets Argentinian tradition

Pichon Norwest is an Italian Argentinian deli cafe bringing something genuinely different to the Hills District. Husband and wife Leo and Celeste Di Giulio blend European deli culture with South American family traditions, serving handmade empanadas, bubbling provoleta and porchetta paninis alongside specialty deli goods sold by the gram.

The food came from memory, not recipe testing. The empanadas are inspired by the flavours and memories of Leo’s Abuela and made by hand. The provoleta arrives bubbling in a cast-iron pan. The panini bar ranges from Porchetta Abruzzese with salsa verde to a classic Calabrese, while Argentinian medialunas cover the breakfast menu in sweet and savoury forms. The deli counter sells cheeses, cold cuts and antipasto by the gram. Near the entrance, a golden plaque honours Leo’s late father, Joe, who gave Leo the nickname Pichón, after whom the venue is named. Pichón means “little bird.”
