OzHarvest- you may have seen their bright yellow vans buzzing around Sydney. They they are the first ‘perishable food rescue’ organisation in Australia. They go about collecting quality excess food from restaurants and other commercial outlets and delivering it (free of charge) to more than 500 charities that provide much needed assistance to the homeless.
Here are Eat Drink Play we love snapping a photo of our food and posting it to social media as we know you do too. So, we think you’ll like this idea as much as we do…
The team from Virgin Mobile are taking some of our funny little mobile phone behaviours and turning those photos into real meals for the homeless.
Here’s how it works: Every time someone takes a photo of a meal and shares it on their social channels with the hashtag #mealforameal, Virgin Mobile will donate to OzHarvest so they can deliver a real meal to someone in need. Virgin Mobile is hoping to deliver 400,000 meals through OzHarvest with this new campaign. Pretty cool, Huh? Get snapping and sharing foodies!
