New Restaurants In Sydney To Check Out

/ 22 January 2025

Sydney’s dining scene continues to evolve, and 2025 is shaping up to be an exciting year for food lovers. From a rooftop Mexican restaurant with city views to a beachfront piazza serving Italian classics and a lively noodle bar in the heart of the Redfern, these new openings promise something for every taste. Here are the spots to watch this year.

Island Radio, Redfern

Bringing Southeast Asian cooking to the heart of Wunderlich Lane, Island Radio is Redfern’s newest hotspot for Asian street eats with a Sydney twist. Recently opened, it’s split into two offerings: the casual, neon-lit Noodle Bar, perfect for a quick bowl of spicy noodles or sate skewers, and the more refined Eating House, where bold banquet menus deliver flavours from Singapore to the Philippines. With selectors spinning disco and reggae beats while you sip on creative pandan cocktails like Poolside in Langkawi, this is a place where dining meets dancing. Upstairs, the private karaoke lounge takes your night from plates to performances, ensuring the good vibes roll well into the evening.

Solaré, Sydney Harbour

Solaré is set to launch in late February and will offer a unique experience aboard a three-level yacht on Sydney Harbour. The Dining Room will serve a tasting menu curated by Executive Chef Pablo Tordesillas, featuring dishes like potato scallop with bottarga and caviar, raw tuna with pomelo and fennel pollen. For those seeking a more casual vibe, the Terrace Bar offers a ‘Cruise Pass’ granting access to a selection of à la carte dishes. The Sun Deck, reminiscent of a beach club, offers day beds and group booths to enjoy drinks with stunning views.

Cibaria, Manly

Cibaria is the Northern Beaches’ new slice of Italy, brought to life by Alessandro and Anna Pavoni at the revamped Manly Pacific Hotel. Opening soon, this all-day dining destination is inspired by the Italian piazza experience, blending food, drinks, and socialising across its beachfront venue. From a morning espresso at the Caffetteria to a seafood feast at the Spaghetteria or wood-fired pizzetta at the Forneria, Alessandro has curated a menu designed to celebrate sharing and quality ingredients. Don’t miss the Gorgonzola trolley served with local honey or Victor’s Gelato creations for dessert. Upstairs, 55 North by Cibaria offers Aperitivo Hours, specialty cocktails, and DJ sets ensuring the energy is as unforgettable as the views.

Bessie’s & Alma, Surry Hills

Albion Street is welcoming two fresh arrivals this summer: Bessie’s and Alma, the latest ventures from the team behind Bar Copains. Opening later this month, this double act is set to transform the iconic Chefs’ Warehouse site into a culinary hotspot. Bessie’s brings Mediterranean inspired plates to the table, with Chef Remy Davis (fresh from San Sebastian’s Michelin-starred Elkano) showcasing seasonal produce and open-fire cooking. The venue’s name pays homage to co-owner Morgan McGlone’s grandmother. Next door, Alma is all about classic cocktails served without the fuss. This laid-back, stylish bar is the ideal spot for a pre-dinner drink or a casual night out.

Letra House, CBD

Sydney’s nightlife just got a stylish new friend with the arrival of Letra House, the latest venture from the Love Tilly Group, known for Love Tilly Devine and Ragazzi. Located beneath Palazzo Salato, this underground wine bar and restaurant blends moody European aesthetics with a Spanish-inspired menu and is set to be your new crush on the dating scene. With over 50 wines available by the glass, curated by sommelier Julie Barbero-Lesage, the list features both familiar choices and more unusual finds, such as a Greek Xinomavro. Pair that with tapas-style dishes like Manchego custard donuts and duck croquettes. The venue’s intimate atmosphere, complete with leather banquettes and exposed brick, is ideal for everything from casual drinks to long, wine-fueled evenings.

The team behind Pellegrino 2000 and Clam Bar is back with Neptune’s Grotto, a cozy yet sophisticated spot that celebrates the best of Northern Italy’s culinary traditions. Located below Clam Bar on Bridge Street, the restaurant combines timeless Italian comfort food with modern flair. Expect house-made pasta, like their iconic tortellini, packed with rich, slow-cooked fillings, and sauces that evoke the warmth of an Italian trattoria. With a marble bar, moody lighting, and New York-style booths, the vibe is intimate and stylish, perfect for long, leisurely meals paired with a well-curated wine list. Whether you’re indulging in a comforting plate of pasta or sipping a classic Italian cocktail, Neptune’s Grotto offers an authentic yet elevated dining experience in the heart of Sydney.
