Morena And Diplomático Rum Partner Up For ‘A Taste of Venezuela’ Dinner

Eat, Restaurants, Sydney / 16 July 2024

Feast on a limited edition menu by two Latin American powerhouses.

This World Rum Day, raise a glass to Venezuela! Diplomático and Sydney’s Morena are joining forces to bring you an exclusive “A Taste of Venezuela” menu, pairing premium rums with authentic Latin American cuisine. This collaboration promises to explore the best flavours and traditions of Venezuela, available for one month only.

“A Taste of Venezuela” is more than just a menu; it’s a tribute to Diplomático rum’s rich heritage, curated to coincide with Maestro Ronero (Rum Master) Nelson Hernandez’s first visit to Australia. Each dish showcases Morena’s modern Venezuelan cooking style, designed to highlight the distinct characteristics of each Diplomático rum being served. Morena’s Head Chef, Venezuelan-born Samuel Rivas said: “At Morena, we are dedicated to elevating the way Sydneysiders engage with the diverse cuisines from across Latin America. Given rum is an intrinsic part of Venezuelan culture…, it felt like a natural fit to team up and offer adventurous diners something unexpected.”

For a limited time only, Morena will offer an exclusive four-course menu with nine dishes, complemented with Diplomático’s rums. Indulge in MBS 5+ Black Opal wagyu girello, its rich flavour elevated by a jus infused with the sweet, fruity vanilla notes of Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva. There’s also the unique combination of rum-doused free-range chicken and hallaquitas, a traditional Venezuelan holiday dish reminiscent of a tamale. For dessert, a tropical take on the classic Latin American flan, with a rum-infused burnt caramel sauce.

If that wasn’t enough, Morena’s bar team have also mixed up two Diplomático rum cocktails to go with your meal. Try the refreshing Joropo Encantando, an aperitif-style cocktail that blends Diplomático Planas white rum with fermented pineapple tepache, cumin-spiced demerara sugar, and a hint of sherry. Or, to end your experience on a high note, try the Aurora Express, a mix of Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva rum with Morena’s in-house coffee, warm spicy mandarin cardamom syrup, and a touch of orange bitters.

“The collaboration with Morena beautifully captures how versatile a rum like Diplomático can be – whether you’re looking to create a delicious cocktail or cook with it,” says Nelson Hernandez. “The chefs at Morena have done an incredible job of combining the old and the new to create something memorable.”

Diplomático rum and Morena’s chef’s selection menu will be available for $150 per person. To book or for more information, visit their website here.
