Messina has never been one to play it safe.
From cult-favourite gelato to wildly inventive creations at Messina Creative, they’ve always pushed the boundaries of flavour. Now, they’re taking things up a notch by transforming Messina Creative into Erin, a brand-new restaurant and bar experience that’s all about accessibility, farm-to-table freshness, and, of course, a touch of frozen magic.
A New Name, A New Experience Named after Messina’s Erindale dairy farm, Erin is all about bringing quality ingredients to the forefront. But the biggest change? No more barriers. Erin ditches the strict booking policies and long degustation-style sittings of Messina Creative, giving you the freedom to walk in anytime. Whether you’re in the mood for a snack, a full eight-course set menu ($89 per person), or just a scoop of gelato with a perfectly paired wine, Erin makes it easy.
Flavours Like You’ve Never Seen Before Helming the kitchen is Go Amano (ex-Lumi), a chef known for his innovative approach to flavour. Expect a menu that fuses savoury and sweet in unexpected ways, with fresh produce sourced straight from the Erindale farm. Dishes include prawn toast with mixed seeds and tomato sriracha sorbet, Erindale gnocchi with pickled mushrooms, aosa butter, and roasted potato gelato, and a beetroot tart with caramelised walnuts, shiso, seaweed tart, and goat cheese gelato.
No Reservations? No Problem Messina knows their original format left some diners out. In a statement, they shared, “Despite its success, we knew it wasn’t the easiest experience to access. With all the restrictions around bookings, many missed out – and that didn’t sit right with us.”
Now, Erin offers a more relaxed approach. No bookings are required, but they’re available if you want to lock in a time. The venue will be open Thursday to Sunday, launching on March 20 at their Marrickville flagship.
Oh, and if you’re just after a casual bite? Snackbar by Messina Creative has been incorporated into Erin, meaning you can still drop by for a quick and delicious fix without committing to the full experience.
