After a decade-long run in the heart of Sydney’s CBD, Mejico, the beloved modern Mexican restaurant, has been forced to close its iconic Pitt Street location due to building redevelopment. However, Mejico’s story is far from over. The restaurant is excited to announce its much-anticipated comeback in the vibrant inner-city enclave of Surry Hills with a new pop-up venue.
Having opened its doors on December 5th at 355 Crown Street, Mejico Surry Hills is poised to captivate both old and new patrons with its signature blend of bold Mexican flavours and buzzy atmosphere. The new venue offers a more intimate setting than before, with al-fresco dining on the thriving Crown Street – perfect for relaxed lunches, social gatherings and date night tacos.
“We’re thrilled to be joining the thriving food scene in Surry Hills,” said Karen Westfield, Mejico’s COO. “Crown Street is the ideal location for our next chapter, and we can’t wait to share our passion for Mexican cuisine with the local community.” It’s no secret that Surry Hills is a foodie haven and being just a stone’s throw from the CBD, the location couldn’t be more ideal.
While the new location may be different, the spirit of Mejico stays alive. Guests can expect to indulge in all of the old favourites like Mejico’s iconic table-side guacamole, as well as some very exciting new additions to the menu. The restaurant’s talented bartenders will continue to make innovative cocktails, while still shaking up their signature margaritas.
The move to Surry Hills marks the opening of a new chapter for Mejico, and the team is excited to welcome both loyal and new customers to the new space, eager to eventually become a permanent part of the thriving Surry Hills dining scene.
