They’ve been smoking up a storm for the last three years at the Sydney Showgrounds, and now in 2020 Meatstock promises another smoked meats and music fuelled extravaganza. And to celebrate the festival’s fifth installment, the team are stepping things up a notch with not two, but three days of epic eats and entertainment. Running from 1st to 3rd May, punters can expect some big names in barbecue, including Daniel Lee (the founder of Pitmasters Brazil) and fellow Brazilian Helo Palacio (hailed as one of the six best barbecuers in the country).
Be sure to come wearing your stretchy pants, with Limp Brisket, Fired Up BBQ, Smokin Hot ‘n Saucy, Black Iron Smokers, Black Barrel BBQ and Hoy Pinoy cooking up delicious meaty eats across the weekend. To wash down all that meaty goodness, craft beer from Yaks Brewing and Sailor Jerry will be flowing all weekend long.
Not only can you eat your way through the best of Sydney’s meats, you can also catch live demonstrations and take home some new found skills with a series of masterclasses on offer. An epically proportioned barbecue competition will also see over 50 teams from Australia battling out, with over $15,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs. Plus, make sure to swing by the A&E Sausage Sizzle Throw-down, will a line-up of professional (and amateur) eaters competing for $1,500 in cash and a variety of prizes.
As for the all-important music front, Meatstock 2020 steps up it’s offering this year with the inaugural Rock The Stock event. To mark the start of the festival, the Screaming Jets will headline along with music acts Black Sorrows, Tim Rogers and more with mouth-watering food trucks preparing punters for the full Meatstock experience on Saturday and Sunday.
