The Mary’s Crew Surprise Us All With A New Pitt Street Outpost

Bars, Drink, Sydney / 17 September 2019

The team behind the growing Mary’s empire have announced their new opening in a sly Instagram post. Naturally.

It’s been an institution in Newtown for nearly a decade. A haven for great booze, heavy tunes and arguably Sydney’s most beloved burgers. And in true Mary’s style, they’ve announced their latest venue via social media with doors now open at 410 Pitt Street. And the team are damn excited to be swinging open the doors, as co-founder Jake Smyth tells “Mary’s Pitt St is the rough n tough little sister to bookend our 2 other CBD joints, slotted right into the Surry Hills border of the city, where it still feels like our city has a seedy pulse.”

As the third outpost for the crew, sitting on the Surry Hill’s side of the city, Mary’s Pitt Street boasts all the usual suspects you’d expect. They’ll be serving all the standard menu items including the Mary’s burger, cheeseburger and mushroom burger, along with their oh-so-delicious fried chicken. Following suit from their Circular Quay venue, they’ll also be offering a vegan menu to ensure every plant-based burger lover can get their fix, too.

And they haven’t forgotten about the drinks list, which packs a serious punch and proves the perfect accompaniment for a hearty feed. Because every burger should come with a side of great vino. Mary’s Group Sommelier and Wine Director, Caitlyn Rees has curated the wine list, boasting a healthy thirty bottles with a spotlight on local Australian and New Zealand wineries.

For those looking for something a little stronger, the Pitt Street outpost delivers a cocktail offering of punchy rum mixes and classic cocktails to suit every taste. Led by the Pitt Street Management team Stu (ex-Mary’s Newtown) and Spruce (ex-Redfern Surf Club), they have crafted a varied list that includes chili margaritas, pineapple sours plus watermelon coolers made for balmy Friday afternoons.

With the silly season about the kick off, Mary’s Pitt Street is set to be the place for every social function this summer. For the first time, you can book for a party of you and 8 to 60 mates (no bookings are taken at either Mary’s Newtown or Circular Quay).

Mary’s Pitt Street is now open at 410 Pitt Street. To book, contact pittst@6marystreet.com.
