Grab your sequins, rev your engines and get ready to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the fabulous homegrown cult classic – The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert
Golden Age Cinema in collaboration with Stoli vodka invites you to enjoy the premier of their new offering, Stoli Martini & Movie Mondays. The first event starts at 6pm on the 9th of September. Tickets are just $50pp and include popcorn, a choc top and two Stoli vodka martinis inspired by the film’s iconic characters and scenes, crafted by renowned martini maven Ana Page.
The iconic 1994 movie was set in the Broken Hill outback, NSW. The film played a key role in bringing LGBT themes to a mainstream audience. Hugo Weaving stars as a drag queen based in Sydney who lands a gig performing in Alice Springs. He recruits two fellow performers – the spirited young Adam (Guy Pearce) and the experienced Bernadette (Terence Stamp). They set off on their journey in a tour bus they lovingly call ‘Priscilla,’ decked out with a giant high heel on the roof. Along the way, the trio builds new relationships and tackles confronting small-town mentalities.
The film is a celebration of friendship and self-expression making it the ideal Monday night outing with friends or family. The Oscar-winning costumes are amazing, the song and dance scenes are a blast, and the story of finding your true self is as touching as ever and may involve a Kleenex or two. Mark your calendars and dust off your glad rags for a faaabulous evening.
