A Five-Day Experimental Art Festival Is Coming To Carriageworks This October

Events, Film & Art, Play, Sydney / 30 September 2020

Liveworks Festival returns in 2020 with a bunch of in-person and virtual events.

Like every festival and event in 2020, Liveworks will look very different this year. The annual festival of experiment art (held at Carriagework’s Performance Space) is set to deliver a curated, shortened program of events this spring. Running for just 5 days from October 21st to 25th, get ready for a range of epic live performances as well as a range of virtual experiences as well.

Liveworks 2020 presents a must-see line-up of installations, performances, conversations and surprising sunset rituals both on-site and online. The festival comes to Sydneysiders in three parts, all of which can be accessed virtually or by visiting the Carriagework performance space.

Live Now offers a range of boundary-pushing performances, while Live Futures offer a selection of top-notch panel discussions and Live Dreams delivers a range of artistic works-in-progress.

For those looking for experimental art performances, there are a bunch of sessions to attend. Head along to AEON†: EPISODE I, a new performance by acclaimed Sydney artist Justin Shoulder that brings together Filipinx myth, puppetry and queer pageantry. They’ll also be an experimental pharmacy by Cat Jones plus a collaborative dance workshop hosted by award-winning choreographer Angela Goh and artist Deborah Kelly.

Plus get ready for a series of public conversations about the role of art as we enter a year of change and disruption. Prepare to hear discussions from academics, health professionals, and experts from other disciplines about how art will help shape the world we live in.
