Forget the standard lunch date, KK Unplugged at Kid Kyoto fuses delicious food, live music, and a whisky discovery journey.
Looking for an afternoon that goes beyond the usual lunch date? Kid Kyoto, the acclaimed modern Japanese restaurant in Darlinghurst, is launching a new series called KK Unplugged, offering a unique experience that combines delectable food, captivating music, and the chance to discover a new favourite whisky.
Held on the first Saturday of August, KK Unplugged promises an intimate and relaxed atmosphere. As you arrive, a complimentary whisky cocktail sets the tone for the afternoon thanks to Benriach, a Speyside distillery known for its innovative approach to whisky making.
Throughout the afternoon, Benriach brand ambassador Andy Tsai will guide guests through a curated tasting of three Benriach expressions. Expect to discover the distillery’s signature rich flavours, often featuring hints of fruit, honey, and spice, with the occasional touch of peat smoke.
But KK Unplugged isn’t just about the whisky, the talented Sydney musician Chloe Parché takes centre stage, performing a captivating set of acoustic covers and originals. Her raw and electrifying music adds another layer to the afternoon, creating a perfect synergy between the flavours on your plate and the sounds that fill the air.
Speaking of plates, the culinary team at Kid Kyoto has created a special four-course set menu designed specifically for this event. Think bold and innovative flavours that challenge your taste buds and ignite your senses. A refreshing watermelon sashimi, yuzu-infused ocean trout, and duck tsukune glazed in an exclusive Benriach maple glaze are just a few of the highlights on offer. The grand finale? A “Tira-miso” dessert that promises a playful twist on a classic.
Tickets for KK Unplugged are a very reasonable $99, with early bookings offering the best seats in the house, presenting a unique opportunity to step outside the usual routine, indulge in new flavours, and discover a hidden gem in the world of whisky.
