After a hard morning of shopping up a storm there is nothing more I crave than sitting down to a delicious (and obviously hard-earned) meal.
The City’s Westfield is the perfect shopping destination and when you’re looking to settle your roaring stomach, you’re spoilt for choice.
Jones the Grocer is nestled in the corner of the food court on level 5 of the Westfield building. I was invited to dine there on Saturday and I wish I had discovered this eatery earlier.
Jones the Grocer can be described in one word. Gourmet. Nothing excites me more than gourmet food. With products sourced and selected from around the globe, Jones the Grocer is a food emporium. Their focus is to provide as natural ingredients as possible by specialist, artisan suppliers, showcased through their creative restaurant menu.
With their own grocery and products, a bakery, fromagerie, tea and coffee services and seriously lip-smacking menu, I knew I was in for a good time.
Walking into the cafe I was greeted by an unexpectedly big spacious room with, with edgy square shape designs hanging above their open kitchen. It was modern and minimalist, and it worked.
My friend chose the eye fillet with forest mushrooms, red wine sauce and jones chips. Ever the greedy friend that I am, before she could even take a bite my fork was in her plate as I snatched a piece of the meat. It was decadently soft with a subtle charred flavour. Intentional or not, I was a fan. The chips were perfection. Fat and golden.
Just when I thought I couldn’t eat anymore, the very friendly and doting staff asked if we’d like to see the dessert menu. The button of my jeans popped at the thought. But who was I kidding, I’m the kind of gal who says there is always room for dessert. Waiter – the menu if you please!
I chose the dark chocolate and raspberry mouse. It was pure decadence. The tangy raspberry complement the decadently smooth, sweet, chocolatey mousse. Chocolate and fruit equals a big tick in my book.
My friend, like me who would never say no to dessert, chose the sticky date pudding with salted caramel sauce and vanilla bean ice-cream. Again, my spoon was in there before hers had a chance.
The pudding was moist, sweet and sticky. Safe to say it was pretty much made to perfection. Traditionally, sticky date pudding isn’t made with salted caramel sauce but I really enjoyed the addition of the salt. I love anything sweet and salty.
Ok, I’ll admit it. I just love anything that is food. Definitely one to add to your list of must-trys, folks!
