Beer facts time! A beer wave of 388,000 gallons flooded London after a vat ruptured in 1814. Egyptian pyramid workers were paid with beer at 1 gallon per day. The oldest known recipe for beer is over 4000 years old and today beer is still the most consumed beverage after water and tea.  This Friday, August 1st is International Beer Day so here is a little guide to what Sydney has on offer to celebrate.

Ivy Sunroom, CBD

Head to level 3 at The Ivy and join in on the World Record attempt for the largest beer tasting at a single venue hosted by The Beer Pilgrim. The world record attempt kicks off  from 6pm and participants receive a tasting paddle containing a selection of three FREE local and international beers to sample. To achieve this record 323 people need to be present and sample all three beers at the same time… quirky concept, but we like it!

The Australian Heritage Hotel, The Rocks

The Aussie will celebrate International Beer Day with an ode to dark brews. Taking over all taps, guests will be treated to the specialty malts and roasted barleys that make ambers, bock, dark, porters and stout beer. Make sure you are there between 4-6pm for the ‘meet the brewer’ session where you can discuss your favourite tipple with the makers themselves.

The Golden Sheaf, Double Bay

To get you in the spirit of International Beer Day, The Golden Sheaf will host a one night only pop up beer bar in their famous beer garden. There will be everything from a  honey-fruit flavoured Pale Ale from Japan, to a big and bold American styled double Indian Pale Ale. Whether your a true brew lover or trying to immerse yourself in the world of beer, there will be something perfect for you.
