Check out the super cool, ice skating and silent disco festival hitting Chippendale.
Following an extremely popular first year, the ice skating rink at Central Park Mall has returned. Blade up from now until the 31st of May, every day from 10am until 8pm. Situated just moments from Sydney’s Central Station, the rink is probably the closest Sydneysiders will get to experiencing a real winter.
Collect wireless headphones from the kiosk to join in the silent disco from 4pm and add dance moves to the list of things to coordinate. Tunes will be provided live by local DJs, all the hottest hits will be blasted through the headphones while you sashay along the ice under the bright lights.
If you’re not confident on skates you can use the gliding penguins for support, they’re not just for kids.
This is a free event, however if you utilise the ticketing system between Monday and Wednesday, you will be reimbursed with a $10 voucher redeemable at Central Park Mall. You can find those tickets here.
Skating sessions will commence every hour on the hour, for a maximum of 45 people at a time. If this event is as popular as last year and they experience high volumes of skaters they will drop the run time back to 30 minute sessions.
This idyllic location means that pre or post skate session, plenty of delicious food options are neighbouring. Get your soul-food fill at Nighthawk Diner, or take your pick from the many mouth-watering options on Kensington Street, including Holy Duck, and hawker style Spice Alley.
Palace Cinema is located on level 3 of Central Park Mall, so if ice skating was enough time spent in the cold, head inside for the newest releases, with plenty of session times to choose from.
