Guide To A Royally Good Long Weekend

Food Guide, Sydney / 4 June 2014

The Queen’s Birthday Long Weekend goes from June 6th – 9th, and there’s no better way to spend it than drinking with your fellow Aussies. Here’s our guide to the best way to have a royally good time this long weekend.
SoCal-1

1. SoCal Neutral Bay

Her Majesty’s birthday needs to be celebrated, and there’s nothing better than British-themed food and drink with a SoCal twist. Fancy Fish and Chip Tacos, or a full Sunday Roast? Not to mention Pimms jugs and gin-based Dubonnet Cocktails (the Queen’s favourite, or so we’re told!) Complimentary G&Ts for all Englishmen – and Englishwomen this weekend.
Bucket-List-1

2. Bucket List

Local Bondi watering hole Bucket list will be celebrating her Majesty’s birthday with $20 jugs of Pimms all weekend including Monday! And it wouldn’t be a proper birthday celebrating without a good old-fashioned roast – from 12pm Sunday and Monday, Bucket List will be serving up a roast dinner fit for a queen. Doors open at 11am all weekend, entry is free and it’s recommended that you make a booking to secure a table.
Bondi-Hardware-1

3. Bondi Hardware

High tea fit for a queen? Yes, please! For $35, Bondi Hardware will be serving high tea, served with a teapot of Pimms to share. Think dainty tea cups, doilies, cream cakes, cucumber sandwiches and much more. Nothing will get you in the British spirit faster!

Glenmore-1

4. The Glenmore & The Australian Heritage Hotel

The Glenmore’s famous rooftop overlooking the Rocks will be hosting a DJ on Saturday, Scotty Sax on Sunday and Pimms Jugs all weekend long. Just down the road, the Australian Heritage will be specialising in pints of ESB and gin & tonics will be flowing all weekend long. The food specials will all have a British twist, featuring a thoroughly British Beer Battered Fish and Chips.
The-Royal-1

5. The Royal

Leichhardt’s The Royal will be giving everyone the royal treatment this weekend with a special Queen Elizabeth cocktail. Down in the main bar will be a high tea available from 12pm on Saturday, accompanied by live music from 4pm on Sunday. Bookings recommended.
Posh G&T Fothergill's Forbidden fruit

6. The Botanist

Kirribilli Botanist will be running food specials all weekend long to celebrate the Queen’s Birthday! Try some spotted dick pudding with custard or scones with jam and cream washed down with a Gin & Tonic or an apricot Brandy. Indulge in the special cocktail Fothergill’s Forbidden Fruit- an enchanting mixture of Zubrowka vodka, elderflower liqueur and lemon juice, topped with brûlée cinnamon, honey and fresh green apple juice foam, served warm in the Queen’s fine china (sort of).
