PSA: A giant game of snake has landed at Darling Square

Play, Sydney / 30 September 2019

Retro game lovers, listen up. Battle it out for top honours at this FREE Giant Snake Game.

It was the game we all grew up with. In fact, you’d be hard-pressed to find any old school cell phone without it. Snake. The cure for long lunches with distant relos and endless family road trips. It brought out the competitive streak in all of us and captured the imagination (and attention span) of a generation of mobile-loving kids.

Snake was arguably one of the most addictive games to hit cell phone screens in its time. The premise was (and remains) deceptively simple. Players use arrows to change the direction of a snake around the game board, hunting out food along the way. As the snake grows larger, the game gets tougher to master with the battle finishing when the snake moves off the screen or hits into its tail.

Want to relive the nostalgia of snake’s glory days? For one week only (September 30th to October 6th), a giant game of snakes will descend on Darling Square. And this time, they’re taking things up a notch with a multiplayer take on this classic arcade game. The best bit? Everyone can join in and start playing for FREE.

So, what can you expect at the event? Using Play Portal, players log into the game using their smartphone to connect and battle against others in real-time. There are extra features like speed boosts and leaders boards to help you track your wins throughout the game. Plus, the super-simple interface means anyone can jump on and play the game.
