Italian restaurant group Fratelli Fresh have opened a new restaurant in the CBD called Fratelli Parlarmento. Enter off Macquarie St near Parliament House (where the restaurant name comes from) and walk down some dimly lit stairs to a dark, dramatic and slightly kitschy space.
You’ll notice a large open restaurant with full view of the kitchen and wood fire oven. There’s exposed brick, dark carpet and jade coloured banquet seating. In the corner is an Italian style water fountain and a giant wooden feature light in the centre of the main part of the restaurant. The place used to be a Japanese bar called Nippon Club.
The menu is almost exactly the same as the other Café Sopra venues so if you love the mixed meat plate with burrata cheese you can rest assured it’s available here. The stuffed zucchini flowers are always a wise choice as is the ragyu (in fact any of their pastas). For something different try the seared tuna with lentils or the porchetta. Of course no Fratelli experience would be complete without ordering the banoffee pie for dessert!
Having opened only a few weeks ago night times aren’t super packed, which is great as you can actually have a nice conversation without shouting. Come here at lunch and we’re told it’s busier. It’s a great spot to come for a quick lunch meeting or a long lingering afternoon entertaining clients.
